HomerPaint is a Homer Client. That is, it requires Homer to function. It's a Homer Client that allows two or more people to interactively paint on a shared window over the Internet Relay Chat system.
What this means is that you'll have to have Homer configured and connected to IRC to be able to use Codpiece.
Why "HomerPaint," as a name? What does it mean?
Unlike "Codpiece," the other Homer client written by Steve Mariotti, this name is generally applicable for its use. So.. this question is unnecessary as is the use of Tob's comb.
What's it like?
In a typical HomerPaint session, you would already be running Homer. By then running HomerPaint and joining the HomerPaint channel (or a separate channel selected by you) you begin drawing on your HomerPaint screen. All other individuals will see what you have drawn and in turn, you will see any changes they have made to the screen as well. It's basically pretty straight forward. I mean.. come on, how tough is the concept of a painting program?
Getting Up and Running
Starting Up Codpiece
You must already have a connection to IRC through Homer. See the Homer documentation to learn how to establish a Homer connection to IRC if you don't already know how. HomerPaint is a Homer Client which means that the Homer application must be running for HomerPaint to function.
Run HomerPaint. Once HomerPaint is running, you will have to either select New from the File menu to create a fresh new HomerPaint window. When you select the New menu, it will ask for a channel name. The default is 'homerpnt'. If HomerPaint begins to gain popularity, you wouldn't want 20 people painting on your picture, so you might use a channel like 'bozobutt' and tell your friends to also type in 'bozobutt' for the channel name and only those individuals on the channel will be interactively drawing on that picture.
